Chateau Roc de Boissac 2007

Chateau Roc de Boissac’s vineyards encompasses 48 hectares (about 188 acres) in the heart of Puisseguin Saint Emilion, Lalande de Pomerol and Lussac Saint Emilion, and has been producing world acclaimed wines since the 19th Century. The name Chtaeu Roc de Boissac on a bottle of wine is a solid guarantee of quality. Each vintage since 1994 has been honored with medals at major French wine comPetiteions and praised in the famous Le Guide Hachette, one of France’s preeminent wine guides. For Chateau Roc de Boissac’s St. Emilion, the vineyard is 12 south-facing hectares (about 29 acres) all in one block in Puisseguin Saint Emilion. The soil is comprised of silt, clay and sand. The vineyard is planted 75 percent in Merlot, 10 percent in Cabernet Sauvignon and 15 percent in Cabernet Franc. Total production is 85,000 bottles per year with the kosher production representing about 10 percent of that. The wines are aged 12 months in French Oak Barrels. The wines are aged in cellars hollowed out of solid rock. This is one of the best Bordeaux wines. Period. Primarily comprised of Merlot with Cabernet Franc blended in -- this is a wine of superior smoothness. Light and fruity, you must "get a piece of the Roc."

Tasting:

A beautiful and rich dark garnet color. This is just what a Bordeaux should look like. Wonderful aromas of ripe black cherries, currants and blackberries teamed with subtle and soft cigar, oak and smoke scents. It's sophisticated and elegant in the very best Bordeaux tradition.
